Dr. Jeffrey Haemer has given tutorials and presentations at dozens of conferences and forums, and has taught computer science at the University of Colorado. He was the USENIX Association’s representative to the IEEE/ISO POSIX effort.

He was a major sustainer of the ROSE Conferences which GURU (Romanian Unix Users Group) held from 1993 to 1996. Jeff has published over 100 articles, is a contributing author of the Linux Administration Handbook, and is the author of Pearson’s video series, Git Under the Hood.

RITE 2003 will be his fourth visit to Romania.

Mike Karels is an American Software Engineer and one of the key people in history of BSD UNIX.
BSD Unix was the first software platform based on TCP/IP and used in the Internet infrastructure buildup.

Mike worked closely with Van Jacobson on a number of widely accepted algorithms in the BSD TCP implementation.
